The deepest powder I’ve ever skied!! Mammoth got a mammoth blizzard and we got to ski it!!
It got EVEN DEEPER!
Who cares about the most boring game of ever when you get to ski feet and feet of powdaaaaah???
It was so much fun. I finally get it. All the time I lived in Aspen, I never got an epic snowstorm like this, and while I enjoy powder as much as the next skier, I never really GOT it. I GET IT. IT’S AMAZING. It’s worth being wet (my ski pants are 8 years old and *might* be in need of fresh waterproofing) and cold!!
It’s also worth driving down to LAX to fly home because the alternative was wait two days while the epic blizzard dumped more snow on Mammoth (which would have been a good option if any of my friends were also stuck, but alas) so even though it was a long travel day it all worked out just fine. What a great freakin’ weekend!! I also did a shit job at taking photos … too busy skiing DEEP!!
I’m so grateful for our annual Super Bowl ski weekend trip, for the crew, for them grocery shopping (how was ALL food & booze for the whole weekend SO cheap?!), for Zieg, for pick ’ems, for being called an abominable snowman, for hot tubs, for gossiping on the floor, for lift conversations, for friends that are family.
