Biking from Austin to Denver

… I wish I could do it! 1400 Miles is a new campaign and film following Texas craft beer brewers cycling from Austin to Denver in 14 days to raise awareness for prostate cancer. The ride kicks off Wednesday, Sept. 25 at Austin’s North by Northwest Restaurant & Brewery (NXNW) at 7 am and ends in Denver on Tuesday, Oct. 8 just in time for the Great American Beer Festival. How freaking cool is that?

Austin Beer Works hosts a party tomorrow, Tuesday, from 6-9pm to celebrate the cyclists and kick off the ride.

Motivated by NXNW’s Brewmaster Don Thompson’s inspirational recovery from prostate cancer, the two-week ride will include eight stops in various cities to to host community events showcasing NXNW’s Beerliner Bus, a 1974 refurbished bus featuring 4 beer taps, 3 video screens, and a commercial kitchen. At each of the eight stops, cyclists and their craft-brewing brethren will host a fundraising event for supporters to enjoy craft beer straight from the Beerliner taps and fantastic beer-inspired food, all to benefit the Pints for Prostates organization.
Cyclists will pedal an average of 100 miles per day and can choose to ride one, multiple, or all 14 days of the trip. It’s like Beerfest on bicycles.
