The secret is out–yogurt that is frozen is delicious and sells like, erm, hotcakes in Austin. New spots are cropping up all over the place, but none are as uniquely Austin as Berry Austin.
The interior is fun, kitschy, and exactly what a place you come for treats should look like–sort of like Willy Wonka’s Wonderland, but minus the creep factor and mini-people.
Speaking of mini-people, the main reason I love Berry Austin (after only having been there once) is for the cup they offer: a Kids Size.
You wouldn’t think this would be THAT big of a deal. Just use portion control on those other big cups, why dontcha? Because it’s hard, and you try to and before you know it you’ve spent $4.68 on a yogurt that costs 39 cents an ounce, which means you’re eating 3/4 lb. of yogurt– and toppings. Obviously.
Berry Austin has a smaller selection of yogurts than most, but they’re all delicious, especially the tarts. Their topping selection is pretty similar to all the others, which is just fine. This is clearly the happiest place to eat yogurt, which makes it worth coming to even if you’re just stopping by to grab one to go.
In the shopping center at 2222 between Mopac and Balcones Dr. (behind Starbucks).
