Austin: Creativity Classes at CreateMore.org

CrossFit has brought me into contact with some pretty interesting, awesome people. Mel Joulwan is one of those people, and her delightful husband Dave–who, I must confess, I barely know personally but feel like I know from Mel’s blog and his constant support of her at CrossFit and other competitive eventes–is starting a class to help other artists of all kinds learn to be more creative despite the constraints of everyday life. He already blogs away the internet like only a genius creative can at Create More … check it out.

He says:

It’s an 7 week program on how we make art and become better people while living life. A group of 4 to 6 artists meet with a facilitator once a week for 90 minutes. Additionally, there’s a once-a-week email check-in from the facilitator.

We’ll read through Fearless Creating by Dr. Eric Maisel. This will serve as a loose agenda, but we’ll likely veer to meet the interests of the group.

Together, we’ll get better at creating during the lifetime we have. Additionally, we’ll get to know each other, share experiences and resources, and potentially work together. It will change the way you approach your work.

I say: Dude rocks, he’s even a certified creativity coach (they have those?), and his resume is impressive to boot. For $250, he could help you toward the next The Great American Novel, the Picasso hiding in your soul, or the mad jams just dying to drum forth from your capable hands.

Class starts June 21, so sign up soon. More details on Create More Class here.
