Although its name is sort of ominous, The Meeting is not. It’s the convergence of ski and snowboard (who see each other like step-siblings) and film and star athletes all in the little town of Aspen. Today through Sunday, The Meeting welcomes winter sport lovers, top athletes and renowned filmmakers with parties, a fashion show hosted by D&E, film screenings and the NEPSA Video Awards, in which local and professional athletes showcase their talent in often humorous short videos.
13 videos will be shown over the course of the weekend, including Chris Davenport’s “Australis: An Antarctic Ski Odyssey.” The movie, which screens Friday at 5:30p at the Wheeler, also is the first offering from Davenport’s film production company, Davenport MountainSport. The company has produced another film chronicling Davenport’s (successful) attempt at summitting and skiing all 54 Colorado 14ers in a year, but that video hasn’t been released.
