You might have seen my tweet last week about .com’s Swim WOD. I did it, and it sucked. I am not a swimmer. I have always considered myself a good swimmer, as in unafraid to drown. But lap-swimming? Not for me.
Naturally, once I learn I am bad at something, I must learn to get better.
So with my one-week free membership to Aspen Club & Spa, I have been swimming laps. Lotsa laps. As a result, I haven’t been sticking to .com WODs (though I squeezed the DL/box jump combo between biking and swimming yesterday), but I made that conscious choice while I had access to the pool. Tomorrow, we’re back on track for .com workouts.
Today, I tried a TRX class (you know, those crazy ropes with handles extending from the ceiling in the globo gym). It’s always fun to mix up my workouts, and this was challenging in a different way than CrossFit … namely 75 minutes of prolonged cardio! But it was a good mix of CrossFit-style Rounds with Rest. And the balance required for some of those exercises is legit for the core! It won’t become my go-to, but TRX is a great supplement to get stronger for ring rows, ring dips, and pistols.
