So last night, stone cold sober, I shredded some cheese for my steak nachos and I remember thinking it wasn’t as much cheese as I thought it would be, but I cooked them, turned off the kitchen light, ate my nachos and watched my shows…
This morning I walk into the kitchen following a TRAIL OF SHREDDED CHEESE. There is shredded cheese all over my hallway, kitchen, and den, EVERYWHERE. I was wearing this giant Rangers jersey sweatshirt hoodie last night, and because the sleeves are so long, I can only assume some of the cheese grated INSIDE THE SLEEVES and then I just deposited cheese all over as I moved around…
I can’t stop laughing. And it made me so grateful for meaningful articles of clothing, however serious or silly the meaning behind them is. Here’s a short list:
- Rangers sweatshirt jersey
- Brazilian wish anklet
- Panama Jack hat
- rainbow rubber bracelets from the Jersey Shore arcade
- Sayulita flax romper we had to beg the woman to open her house to sell me
- mom’s real ’70s Hawaiian mumu (100% polyester, do not recommend for Texas heat)
- JB’s sweatpants + XL tshirt – always sleep in these when I really, really need a hug and miss my best friend
- An angel long sleeve tshirt my dad gave me when I was a kid… I have not put that (stiff) fabric on my body in well over a decade, but for some reason it matters to me and I hang it in every closet I’ve ever had.
- Similarly, I have killer blue adidas track pants that have been everything from a Sporty Spice costume in 7th grade to daily wearers on our CLP trip, and they are no longer comfortable to wear but I keep them anyway (originally purchased at a garage sale so no telling how old they truly are).
I should make clothing that makes memories a regular part of this gratitude list … clothes are such a huge part of identity, it’s really fun to think back and remember what happened when I was wearing what!
Other things I’m grateful for this week:
- My amazing mama’s birthday! So happy she was born.

- Regymen
- Biking to and from Regymen
- The Summer half-bottle wine pack from Costco… 12/12

- My first Magnolia blossom!
