Warren Moon played for the Oilers from the year I was born until 1993. The Cowboys won a Super Bowl in 1993 and 1995. I had a lot to cheer for as a little girl growing up in Texas, watching Monday Night Football with my family gathered around the TV while we eat dinner.
Times have changed … the Oilers are the TEXANS, celebrating their 10th year as a team and leading the division with legitimate Super Bowl hopesPLANS! The Cowboys stink. This year’s Monday Night Football games have by and large left much to be desired, and when I do watch them it’s usually at a bar with friends or sprawled out on my couch with the dawg. I got to see my first NFL game in real life, between my two favorite teams: The Texans (defeating) the Broncos.
Perhaps because the Texans are little-respected here in Colorado or because they are still a new-ish team, I don’t get a lot of Texans gear as gifts during the holidays. You’d think I’d make it easy for gift-givers, right?! My Texans “jersey” is still just an oversize boys’ department tee from Wal-Mart … but I love it, so don’t mock it. I have a Broncos tank and drinking cups. I don’t own anything Saints, even though they’re my third-favorite team (mostly because of Drew Brees).
So when SportsFreak365.com offered to let me make a custom calendar from their custom app, I was thrilled. I customized my cal with pics of Texans, Broncos, and Saints … and their respective QBs … and others who are helping me win my fantasy football league (Mr. April, Andrew Luck, I salute you).
Obviously, I love my new calendar. First, in the photo above, I tried to emulate the pose of coverboy Arian Foster, but while a great ab workout, I was unable to get a great solo shot. So in attempt #2, I’m attempting to emulate QB one #8 Mr. Schaub, although my real football-throwing-face is much prettier.
For the record, as a quarterback I once made a diving touchdown. Just sayin’. So while I may look a fool posing with my calendar boys, I do actually know what I am doing …
