I dipped a toe in the counter-opinion post waters of facebook, and did not get sent to facebook jail (yet). Why did I feel so compelled to speak out? Censorship. I’ve heard the complaints that big tech (social media) is controlling the narrative, but I didn’t want to believe it—until my nurse practitioner aka medical professional friend was censored for sharing her professional medical opinion on vaccinating kids. Censorship has never once, not ever throughout history, served the common good or made life better for anyone. Here’s my profile. Related, I’d also like to share this study on natural immunity. And now on to our regular-if-random list of things to keep you covidtained…
Entertainment
- I will be bingeing Halston—one of my favorite designers—on Netflix, especially after reading this interview.
- Pondering a random small town move, just for fun. Airbnb is reacting quickly to trends with their coupons for longer-term stays—for people like me just checking things out. Super smart collab.
- George Strait at the Houston Rodeo. Name a more iconic Texas duo.
- For a generation of women (me), Atoosa Rubenstein represented everything I wanted to be: an arbiter of taste as the editor-in-chief of Seventeen magazine, but unlike an icy Anna Wintour, I viewed her as a friend if I were to run into her in the NYC coffeeshop adolescent Lyssa hadn’t yet visited. Twenty years later, I’ve been the version of her that I wanted to be, but I’m nonetheless thrilled she’s back with a newsletter; I can’t wait to see what it’s like.
Shop Shoppin’ Away
- Or maybe NOT shop shoppin’ away?
- BUT if I WAS going to shop, how do I redo my kitchen so everything is from here (all under $25)?
- Speaking of kitchens … the most gorgeous pour-over vessel is $75, the price of just 13 coffeeshop pourovers lolz.
Feed & Wine Me
- Looking for this wine, I stumbled upon a wine and coffee shop called Mom and Em … erm, jealous! Mama and Lyssa ATX coming soon …
- Why am I obsessed with this Sauce Gribiche? What on earth am I going to put it on? Idk but making it tonight …
- REAL annoyed at all the protein cookie companies that are selling products I, too, invented years ago but never would have brought to market because they didn’t perfectly mimic actual cookies. (Annoyed at myself, that is)
