I weighed in two pounds up this morning. Now, in the original HCG study published by Dr. A. T. W. Simeons (click here to read the whole study, you can bet I did), he cautions that endurance exercise may cause temporary weight gain due to water retention:
Finally, the weight can temporarily increase – paradoxical though this may sound – after an exceptional physical exertion of long duration leading to a feeling of exhaustion. A game of tennis, a vigorous swim, a run, a ride on horseback or a round of golf do not have this effect; but a long trek, a day of skiing, rowing or cycling or dancing into the small hours usually result in a gain of weight on the following day, unless the patient is in perfect training. In patients coming from abroad, where they always use their cars, we often see this effect after a strenuous day of shopping on foot, sightseeing and visits to galleries and museums. Though the extra muscular effort involved does consume some additional Calories, this appears to be offset by the retention of water which the tired circulation cannot at once eliminate.
Since I still feel like I LOOK better, I won’t stress for another day or two 🙂
Today turned out to be another long skiing day, so I can’t say I really expect to have good results tomorrow. But I can say that my ski pants, which I wear quite often and with the same lulu wunder unders, were hanging off my hips in a way that they usually don’t. So something is working!
Breakfast (10am): 1/2 grapefruit
Skiied for 4.5 hours with one coffee break for about half an hour.
Lunch (3:30p): Crab + 2 pcs celery + cabbage soup
Dinner (8p): lots of food prep (including a terrible stab at zucchini hummus without tahini), but I ended up eating a small bowl of a different, new cabbage soup with a plate of cauliflower rice, 1/2 small bunch kale, and 3.5 ounces ground beef with buffalo sauce (check to make sure it’s all safe ingredients!).
Snack (9p): apple
Feeling pretty good, but planning on taking it easy on the workouts this week. I was pretty tough on my body this weekend, and it’s going through enough 🙂
