Hitting publish before noon on Saturday calling it Friday 😉 Whoops, didn’t realize I hadn’t posted in 22 days.
I was in DC for most of last week; it’s hard to articulate how I love Capitol Hill in DC. Over the 16 years one of my besties has lived there, I’ve gone for extended trips that allow me a glimpse at daily life: walks around the block, to the store, to dinner. No need for a car! A dog that must play fetch to get exercise because he has no yards! But how could I love a place I’ve never lived? Maybe because I’m so loved in this place my friends live.
I love slipping into another life. It’s not that I don’t love mine, it’s that trying on another for size is so much fun—and makes me enjoy and appreciate my life that much more.
grateful for:
- the rain! I LOVE the rain, and we sorely need it. It makes our 90-degree days feel like fall—and a cold front is coming through early next week!
- I can’t wait to switch my closet. I’m letting the clothes pile up until I can’t possibly stand it and will pull out the winter boxes in frustration, to swap out the summer clothes, weather be damned.
- A work saddle. I always say there are peaks and valleys of intensity, but the past six months have felt like one big peak. I’m not going so far as to call this week a valley, but it’s at the least a saddle—in mountaineering, that flat-ish high altitude thing that comes after the false peak before the real peak 😉
- shelby massage + yoga
- family dinner
- volleyball
- friends
- my freakin’ fiancé
- what does a tia sound like? hahahahaaaaaahaaaaa
