This ties in with the post I did a few days ago about rest and smart training. For instance, when you go to your physical therapist and he presses on some ligaments that makes your arm burn all the way from elbow to shoulder, you maybe shouldn’t go to Bikram yoga immediately after and think that your arm is already “warm” and the hot room will loosen your muscles even further. Because it won’t.
It was a tough decision, but I walked out of class. Not because I was in too great of pain, but because my arm stiffened up and I knew I wasn’t GAINING anything by being there.
Thinking about training, what are you gaining from each day? There are some days when you do something just because you think you should, and that’s not smart training. But being smart about training is tough for someone with a go-go-go personality.
I’m taking today 100% off. At least I get to go skiing tomorrow! Forget training, I get to get back to playing for the weekend 🙂
