In Which I Pinterest Pillows

Yes, I used Pinterest as a verb. Deal with it. So is Google.

I like crafting and home design, but Pinterest mostly makes me feel largely inadequate and unskilled. Nevertheless, I undertook this simple pin: “No-Sew Pillow Cover.” Easy DIY pillows, right?

Well, mostly. So easy I covered every single pillow I could find and threw them on my petite couch in my lil baby beach house (I just found the records, it’s 480 square feet).

Easy, yes, but there are caveats. Behold:

4 Srsly, You Didn’t Know That? Tips & Tricks:

1. Pillow size. If it’s bigger than 12×12″, you need more than a yard of fabric.

2. Pillow fabric. Make sure you want to put your face on it. Also the thinner, the easier to tie. Burlap? Joke.

3. Pillow shape. Have a long & skinny? The tie looks stupid. Mine is currently tied like candy … which looks … alright.

4. Pillow $$$. It seems so much cheaper to DIY than buy, but you have to get good fabric deals for that to really be true when you’re talking about a yard or more of fabric. JoAnn has “red sticker” fabric that often goes on 50% of 50% prices (that’s 75% off, kids), but I still paid $4-$8 for my fabric for each pillow. You can buy a throw for that, but you don’t have the switch-em-out flexibility—plus you can reuse the fabric once you’re over it.

Pros and cons, celebs, in DIY pillows as in life it’s all about weighing pros and cons.
